Using nothing more than a guitar cord, two men arrested for robbing a store managed to escape from a police jail in the central Philippines, a local paper reported Saturday.
The two inmates escaped from the Iloilo City Police Station jail by cutting the jail's steel bars with the cord, The News Today reported.
Police identified the two as Mark Anthony Cajandig and Alberto Doronila, who face charges for robbery and violating the anti-drug law.
Initial investigation showed the two escaped from the La Paz district police station Wednesday between 3 and 5 a.m.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Melvin Mongcal ordered the immediate arrest of the two prisoners and relieved the policeman on duty during the jailbreak.
Mongcal directed La Paz police head Senior Inspector Alexander Rosales to reinforce the steel bars of the station's lock-up cell.
